We have applied the 3-D Kirchhoff prestack depth migration to the calculation of migrated sections in 3-D simple anisotropic homogeneous velocity models.
The pairs of individual migrated sections located at the equal distances symmetrically from the middle profile line are different (in the model with non-inclined curved interface). This asymmetry in migration is caused by triclinic anisotropy that is asymmetric.
We tested isotropic, VTI and HTI migration models with optimized P-wave velocities for vertical and near vertical rays to obtain the best results of migration. We have observed misposition, distortion and defocusing of migrated interface caused by inaccurate velocity models used for migration.
