Stochastic wavefield inversion using the sensitivity Gaussian packets

Ludek Klimes

Summary

Perturbations of the elastic medium can be decomposed into the structural Gabor functions. The wavefield scattered by one structural Gabor function is approximately composed of a few sensitivity Gaussian packets only. We derive the equations for the linearized stochastic wavefield inversion based on the relation between the structural Gabor functions and the scattered sensitivity Gaussian packets. The resulting algorithm allows for the true inversion of the complete set of seismograms recorded for all shots.
