Analytical one-way plane-wave solution in the 1-D anisotropic "twisted crystal" model

Ludek Klimes

Summary

The exact analytical expressions for the 2*2 one-way propagator matrices of plane S waves, propagating along the axis of spirality in the simple 1-D anisotropic "twisted crystal" model, are presented. The analytical equations may be useful to test and debug approximate and numerical methods, e.g., the coupling ray theory, the high-order anisotropic ray theory or the finite differences. The exact solution is compared with the analytical equations for the coupling ray theory and zero-order anisotropic and isotropic ray theories.

Keywords

Anisotropy, S-wave coupling, polarization, elastic waves, exact solution.
