The problem of occurrence of rock bursts, especially the possibility of predicting them, belongs to the fundamental problems related to labour safety in mines. To be able to predict rock bursts, it is first necessary to know the essence of and the circumstances linked with the origin of the bursts. This paper deals with the analysis of a time series of rock bursts recorded at the seismic station in Vinarice near Kladno. This analysis was used to determine the periodicity in the occurrence of the rock bursts, to estimate the maximum energy of the rock bursts in the region involved, and to define the interdependence between strong and weak shocks.
