We present a complete algorithm and the very first numerical examples of a brand new imaging method - the Gaussian packet pre-stack depth migration.
The advantages over the methods based on Gaussian beams should consist in increased accuracy, computational efficiency and a direct relation between the regions in the common shot gather and corresponding regions in the migrated section. The Gaussian packet pre-stack depth migration is especially suitable for a target-oriented imaging.
